    • 2 cups granulated sugar
    • 1 cup water
    • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

Step 1: Make the Simple Syrup

  • In a large pot or saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely. Let the syrup cool.

Step 2: Mix the Moonshine Base

  • In a large mixing bowl or pitcher, combine the grain alcohol or vodka, orange juice, vanilla extract, and cooled simple syrup. Stir well to combine.

Step 3: Add the Cream

  • Slowly pour in the heavy cream or half-and-half, stirring gently to avoid curdling.

Step 4: Infuse with Orange Zest (Optional)

  • Add the orange zest to the mixture for an extra burst of citrus flavor. Let it steep for 1-2 hours, then strain out the zest using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth.

Step 5: Bottle and Store

  • Use a funnel to pour the moonshine into glass jars or bottles. Seal tightly and store in a cool, dark place for at least 1 week to allow the flavors to meld.
